Light bulbs and lampshades in Cirencester

Most light bulb problems come down to access. The bulb is in a stairwell, at the top of a high ceiling, in a loft, or behind a fitting that needs unscrewing. Martin changes bulbs in the hard-to-reach spots and swaps out lampshades across Cirencester homes.

What is included

Bulb replacement in high or awkward positions: stairwells, double-height halls, lofts, airing cupboards, garages. Lampshade changes. Simple pendant shade swaps where the existing wiring stays untouched. Desk or floor lamp repairs. Martin carries a selection of common LED bulbs (GU10, B22, E27, E14) as stock.

What is NOT included

Any work that involves wiring, rewiring, or altering an electrical circuit should be done by a qualified electrician. Fitting new light fixtures, adding sockets, replacing ceiling roses, consumer unit work, bathroom lighting, outdoor sockets, anything notifiable under Part P. Martin will tell you straight away if a job needs an electrician, and can recommend one locally.

How long it takes

A high-ceiling bulb replacement is usually under 30 minutes. A lampshade swap is 15 to 20 minutes. If Martin is already on a visit for other jobs, bulb changes are usually tacked on at the end while the ladder is still out.

Pricing

First hour £55, each hour after £35. Bulbs are usually included from stock or picked up at cost.

Common questions

Do you fit smart bulbs? Yes. Smart bulbs screw in exactly like regular ones. Smart switches that replace the wall switch are a job for an electrician.

My light flickers. Is that a bulb or the fitting? Usually the bulb. If a new bulb still flickers, the fitting or the dimmer switch may need looking at by an electrician.

Can you reach the bulb in my stairwell? Almost always. Martin carries a tall stepladder that reaches most domestic stairwells. If the ceiling is unusually high (a converted barn, for example) he will let you know before the visit.
